ATR signs contract with Geven for new passenger seats

Tuesday 04 April 2017

The new seats will provide the new ATR -600 series
with the widest intra-armrest space on the turboprop market

Hamburg, April 4, 2017 – World’s leading turboprop manufacturer ATR and the Italian producer of aircraft interiors Geven today signed a contract to equip the ATR -600 series aircraft with brand new passenger seats. Named Neo Classic and Neo Prestige, they have been specifically designed for ATR by the Italian designer Giugiaro and are presented at this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo, currently held in Hamburg, Germany. They will replace the current generation in new ATR -600s delivered from the first quarter of 2018.

This contract affirms ATR’s continuing tradition of ensuring the highest standard of on-board comfort by offering the widest intra-armrest space on the turboprop market: 18 inches for both the Neo Classic and Neo Prestige. In addition, the Neo Prestige can be reclined, has a larger tray table and a backrest which is 2 inches higher than the one of the Neo Classic.

Wider, more comfortable and easy to retrofit on ATR -600s and older ATR versions, the new seats also offer weight savings of up to 170 Kg. Additionally, thanks to an optimised use of space and cutting-edge design, it is now possible to offer two additional seats in some cabin layouts, while keeping the same operational weights, thereby profiting from the additional payload.

ATR and Geven have partnered since the entry into service of the first ATR -600s, back in 2011. This continuing relationship underlines ATR’s strive for improvement of its offer to both operators and passengers. The evolution of the new seat design ensures that the quality features of the current generation are retained while new innovations, such as the ergonomic backrest, further refine and improve passenger experience.

Alberto Veneruso, Managing Director of Geven stated: “We are delighted to continue to furnish the cabin of the world’s most successful regional aircraft. This relationship with ATR represents a seal-of-approval on the quality of our products from a benchmark in the aviation industry. We are proud that nearly 400 ATR -600s are already flying all over the world with Geven seats.”

David Brigante, SVP Procurement, ATR declared: “The quest to constantly improve our aircraft for both passengers and operators rests at the very heart of ATR’s ethos. These new passenger seats will further contribute to consolidating ATR’s position as a leader in terms of stylish comfort and modernity”.
